Estimate person-hours first
Packing is easier to model as work content than as a single clock duration. If one room represents several person-hours, two helpers may reduce elapsed time—but only when they can work independently without constantly blocking or waiting for each other.
The Moving & Packing Time Calculator uses person-hours and an efficiency factor so adding helpers does not unrealistically divide time perfectly.
Not all rooms are equal
A lightly furnished bedroom and a packed workshop are not comparable. Use room count only as a starting structure, then adjust for possessions, sorting, fragile items, disassembly and disposal or donation decisions.
Common areas, storage spaces and paperwork are easy to forget, so the calculator includes a separate allowance rather than forcing everything into room averages.
Keep logistics separate
Packing time is not truck-loading time, travel time or unloading time. Elevator bookings, parking, building rules, mover access, travel conditions and safe lifting all affect the overall move. Treat those as separate work packages and use professional mover estimates where appropriate.
